Who are we?
We are the owners of the cottage Les Volets Bleus in Monflanquin, 3 Chemin de Feugne. In the Netherlands we live on the
Adriaan van Royenlaan 164 in Oegstgeest.
We rent our gite for a few weeks in the spring, summer and fall.
This privacy statement relates to all processing by us and other parties that process personal data on our instructions.
What do we mean by personal data?
Personal data tell something about you. You share personal data with us if you have contact with us. Think of your name,
telephone number or email address, but also the IP address of your computer or when you visited which web pages on the
websites (the website behavior). It concerns all data that we can relate to you.
Which personal data do we process?
Processing is a legal term. The `General Data Protection Regulation 'refers to processing: an operation or a whole of
operations with regard to personal data or a whole of personal data, whether or not carried out via automated processes'.
And then there is a list of what people can do with data, from collecting, organizing, storing, retrieving, destroying and much
more.
We process various personal data depending on the type of contact. The set-up below is a list of personal data that is not
processed with every contact or person. The list consists of:
•
First name, last name and e-mail address of the person making the reservation request.
•
Personal data shared with us in the "comments" of the booking request. For example, you can enter your telephone
number if you want. Only the information we need for processing your reservation request is processed.
•
Personal data that you share with us during telephone or e-mail contact. Only the information we need for processing
your reservation request or stay in our gite is processed.
•
Personal data for the implementation of the lease, such as your address and bank account number.
•
IP address.
•
Website behavior.
We collect your personal data "cross device", which means that we can, among other things, view your website behavior in
an integrated manner, whereby the device used does not matter.
Parties that handle internet traffic can also process your personal data, including the IP address. We cannot guarantee that
this will happen within Europe. For example, if you visit our site from a country outside of Europe, the IP address can also be
stored outside of Europe.
We do not store personal data for longer than necessary. How long that is cannot be said in a number. That depends greatly
on what we have collected the personal data for. If for any reason your reservation is not converted into a stay at our gite, you
can indicate whether we should destroy your personal data. If you are (or have been) a tenant with us, the personal data can
be stored for many years.
Why do we process that personal data?
As explained below, we process some data for the performance of a legal obligation, some for the performance of a lease
and other data for marketing purposes.
We can approach you through various channels, such as telephone, mail, e-mail, social media platforms and messaging
apps (eg WhatsApp). To make this possible, we also process personal data.
We process personal data in more detail for the following purposes:
Legal requirements
Part of our processing is required by law. This mainly concerns personal data that is required to meet our tax liability.
Perform rental agreement
For the implementation of the lease we keep track of with whom we have entered into the agreement with the relevant
contact persons. We keep various personal details of contact persons to meet our obligations. This way we keep contact
details in order to reach you, your bank account to refund any paid amounts.
Perform marketing activities
We like to keep you informed. For example via e-mails or social media. Or with personalized advertisements on sites of other
parties and via social media. This also often requires personal data. If you do not want to receive any more news, you can
unsubscribe via e-mail. The subscriber files of our news are not provided to third parties.
We may combine the data recorded by us with personal data and general data from other sources (eg, publicly available or
purchased data files from commercial organizations with personal data).
We use "retargeting". Retargeting means that you can see a targeted marketing expression on websites that are connected
to, for example, the Google Display Network and on the YouTube platform. That marketing expression is based on your
website behavior.
If you do not want advertisements to be displayed via these platforms, you can indicate this by turning off the relevant cookie.
See for this the section "Which cookies are used and how to handle them?"
Please note: it is possible that you will still see advertisements afterwards if you fall in a general target group where we target
our advertisement.
For analysis, we can bundle data at a certain abstraction level, encrypt it or make it anonymous.
Who are the third parties that process personal data for us?
For our marketing activities, but also for the execution of the lease, such as cleaning, we can use third parties. Of course,
only the relevant and necessary information is provided.
Organizations that carry out marketing activities for us, such as for telephone acquisition, checking of personal data, regular
communication, inviting to events, developing marketing material (eg reference story, press release).
Some third parties are:
•

such a way that your visit data is processed anonymously for statistical purposes. We also use Google's Google Ads
service, which means that Google marketing cookies are used to enable certain functions, such as remarketing
(retargeting), for products such as Google Ads in the Google Display Network and on YouTube. See also the privacy
statement of Google at https://policies.google.com/privacy?hl=en.
