Les Volets Bleus is within walking distance of Monflanquin, a
historic fortress in the Lot-et-Garonne. This naturally rich
department is located south of the Dordogne.
Bergerac International Airport is less than a 40-minute drive
away.
Monflanquin is situated on a hill with a beautiful view and
walking there is fine. From the gite you look at Monflanquin
and a hilly landscape.
The Place des Arcades is centrally located with a market
every Thursday morning. In July and August there is the so-
called evening market on Thursday evenings; good food and
very cozy. The two-day Medieval festival is held in mid-August
with animation, performances, parades, a market and
medieval banquets.
Monflanquin has a large number of restaurants in every price
range, nice streets and pleasant shops.
Surroundings
There is much to see and do in the Lot-et-Garonne. This
department is known as one of the most popular holiday
destinations in all of France. In addition to the many lakes and
rivers, a large number of different sights can be visited.
For example, visits to the impressive Bonaguil Castle and the
Château de Duras are absolutely worthwhile. You should also
not miss a visit to the impressive Basilique Notra Dame de
Peyragude at Penne-d’Agenais. This impressive basilica is
perched on a high rock above the town and is known for its
Roman-Byzantine architectural style.
The Cave of Lastournelle, near the town of Sainte-Colombe-
de-Villeneuve, is a great day out for the whole family!
In the area of Monflanquin are many nice towns and villages,
such as Bergerac, Monpazier, Pujols, Issigeac. The
departmental capital Agen also has a beautiful historic center,
where you can walk around for a few hours without getting
bored!
The Lot-et-Garonne borders the Dordogne and all the beauty
of that department is easily accessible. A visit to Bergerac
cannot be skipped. Bergerac is a historic city and has a cozy
center where Cyrano proudly raises its nose.
The Dordogne is also known for its many caves and castles.
The area has a rich history, which is reflected in the large
number of historical sights. One of the most famous caves is
the cave of Lascaux, with its beautiful murals. Caves such as
Gouffre de Proumeyssac, the Grand Roc cave or the
Maxange caves are also more than worth a visit. The castle of
Castelnaud, the castle of Beynac and the castle of Biron are
just a few examples of the many beautiful castles that can be
found in this region. Castelnaud Castle is also a museum
where children can also have fun.
What is really nice is a canoe trip on the Dordogne. Young
and old can do this. Lots to see and in many places you can
stop to eat, drink or to rest and look around you.
Don't forget to visit the beautiful town of La Roque Gageac.
One of the most pretty villages in France, beautifully situated
on the Dordogne.

By car it’s approximately a 920 km drive from Calais.
Flying to Monflanquin is excellent. Ryanair flies to Bergerac
from Stansted, Liverpool, Bristol, and East Midlands. British
Airways flies from London City Airport and Jet2.com from
Leeds and Bradford, Manchester and Birmingham.
It is a 40-minute drive from the airport to Les Volets Bleus.

You will receive a confirmation of your reservation request in
the e-mail. No e-mail received, check the spam box. After we
have received the request, we will respond quickly. Again via
e-mail. If you want to be called, put a telephone number with
the comments area on the reservation form.
To make the reservation final, we require a down payment of
25%, payable by bank transfer. The payment details are in our
response. After receiving the down paymment you will receive
a confirmation of the reservation. The remainder of the rent
must be received by us 8 weeks before the start of the rented
period. We ask for a deposit of € 250 to be paid upon arrival.
Arrival is on Saturday after 4:00 PM and departure is also on
Saturday before 10:00 AM.
Who are we?
We are Marion and Ron Happel and from 2015 we are the
proud owners of Les Volets Bleus. After a thorough renovation
and refurbishment, we have decided to rent out the gite.
We are a couple with two adult children, and we are already
grandma and grandpa. Out of season we live in Oegstgeest in
the Netherlands, but when the spring comes we can't wait to
go to Monflanquin.
